What is a REDD+ Result Unit™ (RRU) forest carbon credit?
An RRU forest carbon credit is the first product for sale to businesses created by REDD+, a platform created by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNCCC). Put most simply, REDD+ enables developing countries to receive payment in exchange for protecting their forests. Each RRU purchased represents the removal of one tonne of CO2 from the atmosphere and saves two rainforests trees.
What makes RRUs different from other credits?

RRUs are the only carbon credits certified by the United Nations as an internationally transferred mitigation outcome under the Paris Accord.

Unlike many project-based credits, each RRU represents a verified, overall net reduction in a country’s total forest carbon emissions.
